South African Events Guide - January 2017
There’s always something happening in South Africa, but it’s not always possible to say when. However, start celebrating the new year in South African style – by visiting the events listed. And not to forget, car rental Cape Town is an option if you don’t have your own transportation to explore the events.
Cape 2 Rio Yacht Race 2017

Setting off from Table Bay, participants will go from Cape Town South Africa to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in a great tactical race for roughly 20 days.
Cape Town is abuzz with activities for the kick off of the Cape 2 Rio yacht race, and the bay is swamped with eager spectators. Boats set off from the the breakwater at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront and follows the coast past Granger Bay and Mouille Point before setting off into the international seas.

Drak Challenge 2017

The Drak Challenge Canoe Marathon is spanned over 72 kilometers on the Mzimkhulu River.

This is the biggest whitewater kayaking event in South Africa, featuring head to head kayak and SUP racing down class II-IV whitewater. The spectator-friendly venue and superb whitewater makes this one of the premier events on the South African kayaking circuit.

Cyclists will have to take up the challenge of facing a total climb of 11 514 meters, with Robbers Pass and Kowyn’s Pass as the most famous and gruelling mountain climbs. Tackling the Kranspoort Pass on the first stage will set the pace and provide the ideal warm-up for the rest of the tour. The Organisers effectively created an equal ground for cyclists of levels of skill and age to experience the murderous mountain climbs and steep downhills in a safe environment.
