- The same credit card used to pay Drive South Africa must be presented for the Rental Security Deposit and Insurance Excess Deposit (if applicable). The credit card must be valid, with raised (embossed) digits and issued in the name of the driver. No African Bank Credit Cards will be accepted.
- The Drive South Africa website does not show live availability. Drive South Africa will issue a full refund in the event of a vehicle not being available upon receipt of payment, or if the rental is cancelled by Drive South Africa or the vehicle supplier.
- Only once payment has been received your rental vehicle can be reserved. Once your vehicle is reserved, a car rental voucher will sent to you via e-mail, with full supplier and collection details.
- Payment to Drive South Africa may be made by credit card. EFT deposits are only accepted if payment can be made at least 3 working days prior to collection of vehicle. No EFT deposits are accepted over weekends.
- Should the renter not return the rental vehicle by the date and time indicated on the car rental voucher, the vehicle will not be covered by any form of insurance and the vehicle shall be held at the sole risk of the renter.
- The renter needs to contact Drive South Africa (Monday to Friday during office hours 08:30 – 17:00) to arrange and pay for a rental extension before the return date and time printed on the car rental voucher. No extensions can be facilitated over weekends or on Public Holidays. Should a client not be able to process payment on the credit card link due to the link malfunctioning, no or unreliable internet connection or if the payment was unsuccessful (irrespective of the reason), the renter will have to process the rental extension directly with the supplier at their relevant rates.
- Should the rental extension not be authorized and processed by both Drive South Africa and the relevant supplier the rental days not covered by the original voucher will be charged at a higher penalty rate plus mileage travelled.
- Car rental rates are calculated on 24 hour cycles from the time the renter signs the Rental Agreement until the return of the vehicle. No grace period is granted for vehicles returned late. The supplier will charge the renters credit card with an extra rental day at a penalty rate if the vehicle is returned late.
- Please take note of the details of your selected rate. All additional applicable charges will be made directly by the supplier upon collection of the vehicle to your credit card.
- Depending on the policy of the relevant supplier, the Rental Security Deposit and/or the Insurance Excess Deposit may be held against the facility or charged to your credit card for the duration of the rental. It may take between 3 – 14 working days to process any relevant refund.
- Drive South Africa and the relevant Car Rental Supplier does not take any responsibility for currency fluctuations from the time of the charge to refund.
- No refunds will be applicable if a vehicle is not collected from the supplier or if the vehicle is collected later/returned earlier than the date and time printed on your car rental voucher. The supplier will bill Drive South Africa according to the number of days printed on the car rental voucher. Once a voucher is issued, no refunds can be issued when shortening your rental.
- Cancellation Penalties will apply if a rental vehicle is not released for one of the following reasons: A Debit or Cheque card was presented for the Rental Security and Insurance Excess Deposit upon collection of the vehicle, Insufficient funds available for Rental Security & Insurance Excess Deposits, Renter is listed as Cautionary Advice by any South African based Car Rental Company, Renter has outstanding invoices with a Car Rental Company, Renter does not have his/her Drivers License present on day of collection or the renters Drivers Licence Expired, Renter is under age to rent a vehicle or the renters Driver’s License is less than 3 years old.
- All pricing that is shown in any other currency other than South African Rand is approximated and shown as a guideline.
- All charges on your credit card are in South African Rand and your bank/credit card provider may use a different exchange rate to the one used on the website.
- Your rental is subject both to Drive South Africa’s terms and conditions as well as those of the supplier used.
- Please note you must have a valid Driver’s License for more than 3 years in main drivers name.
- Vehicle groups, and not vehicle models can be confirmed at time of reservation. All suppliers reserves the right to change vehicle models per vehicle category without prior notice.
- Vehicles are not allowed to cross South African Borders without prior authorisation from the supplier. Not all vehicle categories all allowed to cross borders, please check with your consultant.
