Join the Greenpop team for a weekend of camping in one of South Africa’s ancient forest jewels while enjoying some good music, good food, morning yoga, cool vibes, and of course tree planting! The festival is a celebration centred around growing and replanting the forest and will see over 100 people planting 1000 trees.
Camping is South Africa are very popular amongst the locals but this event will have an added element to it.
Platbos is an ancient forest near Stanford in the Overberg region just one-and-a-half hours from Cape Town. Car rental from the airport or even hiring an equipped 4×4 with camping equipment is an easy option, if you are considering travelling to this outdoor camping event.
Like many natural forests around the world, parts of Platbos have been cleared over the past decades for cultivation.
In response to this issue, every year, just before the rains come in May, Platbos prepares to plant out the saplings. Last year at the first Greenpop Reforest Fest, 100 people lend a hand and 1324 trees were planted in one weekend to help replant and grow the forest.
Trees for Fees! Raise 10 trees for the Platbos forest and get a free place to come along for the weekend. Start an Activist page on GivenGain to raise money for trees easily. For specific details on this, please email charlotte@greenpop.org.
