Meet Preston Pietersen - Drive South Africa’s financial guru

When it comes to ensuring that all our finances are in order, Preston is our go-to man here at Drive South Africa.

Some say he was born with a calculator in his right hand. For now, that’s purely a myth. To find out more about our financial mastermind, we had a quick Q&A session with Preston to get a glimpse into his life outside of the office.

How long have you been with the company?

15 months.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Finding undiscovered hidden spots in the inner city and experiencing new things and places.

What’s your favorite movie?

None. I don’t even watch TV!

If you could invite three people over for dinner, who would it be?

The Pope, Queen (the singer) and Ozzy Osbourne – would make an epic debate about life and religious beliefs.

Where have you traveled before?

Most of the world, America is the only untravelled continent.

Which three destinations would you like to travel to next?

I have four:

  • Travel through the USA’s Route 66 with a convertible V8

  • Take a bus trip to Nashville for the country music scene

  • Visit Louisiana for the endless carnival parties and graveyards

  • Explore Mississippi for some southern hospitality

What was your worst experience while traveling?

I missed a flight out of Bolivia, and then got stopped and searched by police assuming I was a drug trafficker!

Tell me about your funniest travel experience?

Learning to row, balance and not fall in the water while traveling in a gondola in Venice. It’s a flat-bottomed boat so if you shift your weight to one side, the gondola tilts!

The best meal you’ve ever had on holiday?

Authentic spaghetti bolognese in Italy.

The weirdest meal you’ve eaten on holiday?

Frogs legs and horse testicles – Lebanese delicacy. It tastes like steak!

If you had an unlimited travel budget, where you would you go?

As far as $3000 dollars can get me through 51 states of America!

If you want to go on your own adventure through Africa, you might want to have a look at 4×4 hire to find the best vehicle for your adventure.
