Winter Wonderland: Where to Build a Snowman in Cape Town

Cape Town has turned into winter wonderland over the past month. The city has welcomed the much-needed rainfall after the drought. Even better, it has been snowing in some towns, just outside of the Central Business District.

For the ultimate white winter experience, we've compiled a list of places in and around Cape Town, where you can experience the snow:

Ceres

The fruit growing region of Ceres is nestled in the Breede Valley, through the foothills of the Hex River Mountains.  Ceres is just about an hour outside of Cape Town and the ideal road trip for the entire family. The blankets of snow covering the mountainous area are breathtaking and visitors get to experience the snow first hand.  Sitting in the car is forbidden and making snowmen is a mandatory activity in the area, especially in Winter.

Worcester

Worcester is a small town northeast of Cape Town. Worcester is situated in the biggest wine-producing district in South Africa. Every year the mountains around the town are covered in snow and promises a fun experience for locals and visitors.

Tulbagh

The small town of Tulbagh is becoming a popular travel destination for South Africans.  The town is situated in the Land van Waveren basin, in the Cape Winelands. Snow can be found on the Winterhoek Mountains and in the local town. Locals and visitors are welcome to explore the town, make snow angels and grab a bite to eat in one trip.
