10 reasons why you should explore the Golden Gate Highlands National Park

Located at the foothills of the Maluti Mountains in the Free State Province of South Africa, the Golden Gate Highlands National Park gets its name from Park’s sandstone cliffs, most notably the Brandwag rock.

If you’re travelling through the Free State, here are 10 reasons why you should explore the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.

Just remember that South Africa is vast (about 5 times the size of the UK), so if you’re planning on seeing a range of places, we recommend car hire in South Africa as your first option. Public transport is almost non existent, so get something nice and comfy.
