The Cape Town Cycle Tour-The world's largest timed cycle race
The 41st annual Cape Town lifecycle week is the highlight of every sporting enthusiast’s calendar. The nine-day celebration starts on the 2nd of March and aims to promote and celebrate healthy lifestyles and freedom of movement through cycling.

The week kicks off with the MTB challenge, which is a one-day event, with three different routes stretching across the Cape Winelands. The MTB challenge is not only for an experienced cyclist, but newcomers are welcome to join in on the fun. Entries are now open.

The great thing about the lifecycle week is that it makes provision for the entire family. You can enter your little one’s into the Junior race on the 3rd of March, and give them a taste of what the big race day is all about. The junior event offers three distance, tailored for all age groups. The route is contained at the Cape Town stadium. Each finisher gets a medal and there are waterpoints along the route, to keep the kids hydrated. Parents are welcome to accompany their kids on race day.

What started as a protest ride to encourage the City Council to consider bicycles as part of their town planning and raise awareness around cyclists, is now one of the world’s leading cycle events. The cycling community in South Africa has grown exponentially over the years, as a result of the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The cycle tour will start at the Grand Parade precinct in the Cape Town Central Business District.
